There are several steps to create a poster for your team’s film using a Chromebook. Start by opening your Chromebook Files folder.
Navigate to your project’s footage folder. Review your film’s footage and decide which frame from it will work best as the image you would like to use for the poster.
Double-click the file containing the frame.
Use the scroller to stop on the frame you want to use.
Click the [ctrl + switch-windows] keys to capture a still frame.
It will be saved in your downloads folder.
Download the EMP-Film-Poster-PIXLR-Template.pxd file to your film project folder. Use your Chrome web browser to navigate to Pixlr.com then click on the ADVANCED PIXLR E button.
The Advanced version of Pixlr.com is similar to Adobe Photoshop. Click on the OPEN IMAGE button.
Navigate to your project folder, select the EMP-Film-Poster-PIXLR-Template.pxd file, then click the OPEN button.
This template is a multi-layered file that you will return to a little while. To make the process of creating your poster easier, click the – next to History to minimize the panel.
Press the [ctrl+o] keys and navigate to your Downloads folder.
Select the screenshot you captured from your video then click on OPEN.
Press the [Ctrl+A] keys on your Chromebook keyboard to select the entire image. Your image should now have a dotted line border. Press the [Ctrl+C] keys to copy it.
Click on the EMP-Film-Poster tab to return to the template.
Press the [Ctrl+V] keys to paste your image onto the template. The image will appear small on the poster.
Press the [ctrl+-] keys to zoom the frame display out to give you more room to work. Use the Arrange tool to resize and position your pasted image using the handles surrounding it.
You need to adjust the size and position of the image you pasted to fill the entire poster frame. The parts that extend beyond the edges of the frame will be cut off when printed.
When you are done resizing and positioning the image press the [Crtl+0] keys to fit the view to the screen. You may use the Adjustment and Filter menus to make any changes you believe the image needs.
When your image is how you want it to appear, look at the Layers menu. Press the [Crtl+5] keys until you move the image.png layer just above the background layer.
When you are satisfied your image is correct, select the Text tool and double-click in the credits box.
Notice how all of the placeholders for the names are UPPER CASE and the rest of the words are lower case. Keep this formatting as you replace name placeholders with your team member names.
If no one completed the film edit or created music and sound fx for the film, eliminate these credits. If a person received credit for starring, directed by, or videography by, do not include their name as a production assistant.
Reposition the credits box when you are done to make sure it has a margin from the bottom and is centered between the standard poster graphics.
Reposition or eliminate the Now playing on LoganTV.net text.
When the credits are correct use the Text tool to double-click on TITLE and type the name of your film.
With all of your title letters selected you may make adjustments to the appearance by using the formatting tools.
You should change the font used to something that will turn your title into a logo for your film.
When you are done with the title review everything on the poster.
If it looks just the way you and your team want it to appear use the [crl+s] keys to start the save process.
For the File name use Film-TITLE-Poster-NAMES substituting one or two words for your film TITLE, and the names of each member of your team for NAMES. Do not include any special characters and use hyphens instead of spaces. For File type choose the PXD option. Here is an example file name:
Film-Revenge-Poster-Jim-Shoes-Anita-Job-Terry-Cloth
When all information is correct click the DOWNLOAD button.
When the window opens make sure you are saving the image in your Google Drive Project folder. If the file name is correct and ends with the .pxlr extension, click the SAVE button.
When the file has been saved, send an email to the teacher with the subject POSTER and in the body of the message list all of your team members. Include a link to the shared .pxlr file of your final poster design.
