Video Editing

If you are not signed into Screencastify you may be asked to sign in.  Use your school email account.  When the recorded video opens up click the
Click to unmute button. Stop the playback by pressing the pause icon or your keyboard’s spacebar.

This is the trim window.  Your upgraded account gives you access to the Open in Editor option but you do not need to use it for this project.

Drag the playback slide to the recording start. Press the play icon or your keyboard spacebar to start playback.

As soon as you hear your soundtrack start, press the spacebar to stop the recording.  Note the time then drag the left-side scissors icon just before that time.  Press the spacebar to start playback.  The sound should start playing almost immediately. If it does not, move the left scissors until your soundtrack starts playing immediately after you press the spacebar.  In this example, the start time is 0:11 (11 seconds from the start of the video.)

Use the right-side scissors icon to drag 15 seconds later in the video.  In this example the time is 26 seconds.

Playback your entire video and confirm it looks and sounds the way it should.

When your trim points are correct, press the Save trim button.

You will be asked to confirm edit.  If you are certain, click the Trim button.

It may take awhile for the video to be trimmed.

When the trimming is complete the length of your video should now be 15 seconds.

From the Download menu on the right click on Export as MP4.

In the settings menu have a check mark next to Convert to fixed frame rate and set the FPS (frames per second) to 30.  Click the Export button.

When the Download MP4 button appears in the Exports window, click it.

Navigate to your Google Drive PSA project folder and change the file name to PSA-CLIENT-NAME.mp4 replacing CLIENT with the one or two word name of your client and NAME with your first and last names.  Remember to use hyphens instead of spaces and keep the .mp4 extension.  When the file name is correct click the SAVE button.

Submit Your Project

Once the file has been saved double-click it in your project folder and make sure it plays back the way it should.  When your video is ready, open the class Google Drive Drop Box.  (There is a link on the class website.)

Drag your video from your Chromebook project folder into the Drop Box opened in the Chrome browser.

When the upload is complete send an email message to the teacher with the subject PSA VIDEO.  In the body of the message include your first and last name and state that a copy of your video is in the class drop box.

Although this project has been modified from the one you would have completed in the class computer lab, many of the things you accomplished are very similar, and some are identical.  Congratulations!
