To update student pages in the graduation website you need to be a site editor.  Check your email for a message from WordPress with the subject [Class of 2020] Login Details. Click the link to set your password.

You may use the suggested password or set your own.  Click the Reset Password button to set it.

Once your password is set click the Log in link.

 

The Dashboard is where you may make changes to the website.  You are an editor so you have control over all site content.

Each student page is actually a WordPress Post.

In the Dashboard menu float over Posts and click the All Posts link.

In the Search Posts box enter the last name of the student whose post you wish to modify then click the Search Posts button.

When the post appears in the search list, click the Edit link under the student’s name.

There are two viewing options in Edit mode.  Visual is similar to how the content appears on the website, and Text is the code behind the page.  Click the Visual mode.


 

To change the student’s image, use the Visual editor view and click on the the image that already appears.  In this example, it is a placeholder.  With the image selected, click the Text view mode tab.

Select the existing URL for the image.

Please note that images linked from a Google Drive folder need a specific format.  The URL prefix must be
https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=

Here is an original Google Drive image link that needs to be modified:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fYsGj_-23EouRJ7kH9-QusuGjsYz1gSi/view?usp=drivesdk

The text in bold is the file ID.  The ID needs to follow the correct URL prefix and  nothing else should follow the file ID.  Here is an example of a correct Google Drive image URL link:
https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1fYsGj_-23EouRJ7kH9-QusuGjsYz1gSi

With the existing image URL selected, paste the new image URL.

When the correct link has been pasted, click the Preview button.

A new tab will open which should now show the new image.

If the preview is correct, return to the Edit window tab and click the Update button.  The student’s post will be updated with the new photo.


 

To add a video link to the student’s page, use the Visual editor view and click after the last text that appears.  Press [enter] to start a new line, then type the link text.  In this example it is
Click to see a staff member video.

Select all of the link text, then use the style menu and choose the Heading 5 option.

To add a video link, select the link text and click the Insert Link icon.

Click in the Paste URL box and paste the correct video URL.

With the URL appearing in the box, click the Enter icon.

Click the Edit icon to set how the link will open.

In the Insert/edit link window click next to Open link in a new tab to make a check mark appear, then click the Update button.

Click the Preview button.

In the preview window click on the video link you added.

The linked video should open in a new window.  Check to make sure it plays back correctly.  If the link works and the video plays back, return to the Edit page and click the Update button.


 

To add new text to a student’s post, use the Visual edit mode and click under the student’s name where you would like to have the text appear.  Type the new text, then select all of it.  Change the text style to Heading 4.

Click the Preview button.  If the text appears correctly, return to the Edit page and click the Update button.
