|HandBrake is a great tool for converting some types of video files into a format that is necessary for other uses.
PLEASE NOTE: When using a Mac computer, if you do not have a two-button mouse that allows you to right-click, hold the keyboard [control] key as you click on an item. The context menu will display.
|1. Navigate to your project folder. Make sure that when you imported footage, you copied the AVCHD folder from the SD card, then renamed and numbered it.
|2. For each footage folder you want to covert, create a Convert-These and a Converted folder, and give them the same number as the number of your original footage folder.|
|3. Open a new Finder window and navigate to your project folder. Open your footage folder, then right-click on the BDMV folder and select “Show Package Contents.”|
|4. Open the “Stream” folder.|
5. Click on your Convert-These folder, then use the [Command] and [V] keys to paste all of the files. It may take awhile to paste the files.
|6. Find the Handbrake program in your applications folder or use the Launchpad to open it.|
|7. When Handbrake opens for the first time, select “Preferences” from the “Handbrake” menu and set the “General” tab to match the settings shown. (Click on the image to see a larger view.)
When you are done, click the red dot to close the window.
|8. From the “File” menu select “Open Source” and navigate to your project folder.
Select your “Convert-These” folder and click the [Open] button.
It may take awhile to scan all of the files.
|9. When the scan has completed, click the double-arrow next to the “Title” window to see if all of your files have been added.
| 10. Next, set the Destination by clicking the [Browse] button.
Navigate to your “Converted” folder, then click on the [Save] button. You may have to click on it twice.
|11. From the Handbrake “Files” menu click on the “Add All Titles To Queue” option.
When prompted, click on the “Yes, I want to add all titles to the queue” button.
|12. Click on the “Show Queue” button,
then click the [Start] button.
Each file will start converting, and the icon next to its name will change from a slate, to a spinning orange dot, then to a green check mark.
|13. When all files are done the “Your HandBrake queue is done!” message will appear. Click the [OK] button.
You should now see green check marks next to each file name.
Close HandBrake, then import your “Converted” folder into Adobe Premiere. You should now be able to edit your project using these files.
